Patricia-Maria Weinmann - Stage Director

An active freelance director and a highly respected teacher, Patricia-Maria Weinmann has worked for many national opera companies and festivals including Utah Opera, Syracuse Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Boston Lyric Opera, Central City Opera, Opera Boston, Ashlawn Opera Festival, the American Opera Project, and Mississippi Grand Opera.  Ms. Weinmann has collaborated on a number of premiere performances including Daniel Pinkham's The Cask of Amontillado, the staged orchestral premiere of Scott Wheeler’s The Construction of Boston and Wheeler’s Democracy for the American Opera Project in New York as a work-in-progress. Local engagements have included Four Saints in Three Acts for the Boston Conservatory, and H.M.S. Pinafore, L’Italiana in Algeri and South Pacific for Opera Boston.

A frequent visitor to Salt Lake City, Weinmann has directed numerous shows for Utah Opera including H.M.S. Pinafore, The Mikado, The Pirates of Penzance, The Gondoliers, Cenerentola and L'Italiana in Algeri. Additional directing engagements include The Barber of Seville for the Seagle Music Colony, Naomi in the Living Room by Jonathan Holland for the New Gallery Concert Series, Lee Hoiby's Bon Appetit for Opera Providence, Ashlawn Opera's Night Under the Stars, Carmina Burana and Sweeney Todd for Syracuse Opera, and L'elisir d'amore for Opera on the James, co-direction of Werther and Rinaldo for the Boston Opera Collaborative, and Faust et Marguerite for Boston Opera Collaborative.

Weinmann has served on the faculties of both the New England Conservatory and the Boston Conservatory of Music. In addition to her teaching and directing duties while at the New England Conservatory, Ms. Weinmann co-directed the Conservatory's Opera Education Outreach program. New England Conservatory directing credits include Cosi fan tutte, Dido and Aeneas, Les Malheurs d' Orphee, Cole!, Miss Havisham's Wedding Night, La Cantarina and Hansel and Gretel. As a guest artist for Utah Opera's Young Artist Program Opera's Resident Artist Program and a member of the faculty for the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Graz, she continues to train some of today’s most talented young singers. Weinmann, with Greg Smucker, is the Co-Artistic Director of the Boston Opera Collaborative.
